Finneran appointed Public Safety Deputy Commissioner
SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y >> Saratoga Springs Public Safety Commissioner-Elect Robin Dalton announced that Eileen J. Finneran has been named Deputy Commissioner of Public Safety for the next Saratoga Springs City Council term — which will begin on New Year’s Day.
Finneran has served as Deputy Commissioner under two prior Commissioners, with Chris Mathiesen and Ron Kim, as well as serving as deputy to Mayor Valerie Keehn. Her background also includes significant experience with the Saratoga Springs’ Zoning Board of Appeals, the New York State Legislature,
local educational institutions, in addition to extensive volunteer work.
“I am thrilled to return to city government. It is an honor to help Commissioner Elect Dalton lead the Department of Public Safety,” Finneran added.
“I proudly ran, and won election, as a person who was an early adopter of the concept of ‘One Saratoga.’ This appointment applies that concept,” Dalton stated. “Eileen brings something unique to the table:Not just a wealth of experience, but experience specific to the position she will be assuming.”
“We have an ambitious agenda in Public Safety, and in the City,” Dalton continued, “and I want the best people on my team who will help to get us there. I’m delighted to appoint
Eileen.”
“By accepting this appointment, Eileen Finneran is reaching across party lines today as much as I am. We both do so in the belief that the City will be better as a result. That, to me, is “One Saratoga.”
