O’Dwyer-Ladd appointed as deputy finance commissioner
SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. >> Commissioner of Finance Michele Madigan announced the appointment of Deirdre O’DwyerLadd as the deputy commissioner of finance.
O’Dwyer-Ladd’s academic background includes a Bachelor of Arts in political science from the University of Vermont and an MBA from the University of Colorado.
Her 25-year career has spanned a variety of industries including banking, corporate retail, academia, sales, and advertising. She has also worked with non-profit organizations assisting in strategic planning, marketing and mission alignment.
O’Dwyer-Ladd is an active community volunteer, serving on numerous volunteer boards, city and school committees, She moved to Saratoga Springs with her husband, Michael and sons Jack, Declan, and Patrick in 1998.
O’Dwyer-Ladd was recognized in 2007 by the mayor of Saratoga Springs for her local leadership and fundraising initiatives, and, in 2015, by the Prevention Council of Saratoga County for her years of dedicated service and commitment.
She was elected to the Saratoga Democratic Committee in 2011.

O’Dwyer-Ladd is the granddaughter of Paul O’Dwyer who was a civil William O’Dwyer liberties attorney, involved in New York City politics for much of his life, serving as New York City Council President and was the representative for that city to the United Nations.
Her grandfather’s brother was New York City Mayor William O’Dwyer, and her uncle Paul’s youngest son, Brian O’Dwyer, also a civil liberties attorney, was appointed commissioner of the U.S. National Commission of UNESCO by then-U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.
