DINING WITH DIABETES: Dining with Diabetes, an educational program for people with diabetes or prediabetes and their family members is being offered by Cornell Cooperative Extension at the St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, Tuesdays, February 25th, March 3rd and 10th, 10:00 am-12:00 pm. Pre-registration is required: call 518885-8995. This free program is sponsored by the Schuylerville Lions Club. Participants will learn how to fit carbohydrates into a healthy menu, effectively use food labels, choose meals at a restaurant and adopt other healthy habits to help manage diabetes through healthy eating. BEATLES CABARET: The Beatles Cabaret - All You Need is Love ~ Burnt Hills Oratorio Society. Friday, February 28, Saturday, February 29, Sunday, March 1. Treat yourself to a great night-out as we entertain you with the beloved songs of the Beatles. Set in the elegant Vista Ballroom at the Van Patten Golf Club in Clifton Park, this grand affair begins with a delectable Chef’s Buffet and cash bar, followed by a choral cabaret featuring solo voices from the BHOS family. SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITY: The Saratoga Builders Association, Inc. is proud to announce their continued monetary commitment to education and will be awarding two $1000 student scholarship in 2020. One is the SBA Scholarship award and the second is the “Bob Best” Memorial Scholarship award. The organization makes these cash scholarships available annually to students who are planning to pursue a construction industry education. These scholarships are open to any high school senior or college undergraduate in Saratoga County who is planning to pursue a construction education at a 2 or 4-year accredited college or university or to students who would like to purchase tools and/or equipment for employment/career or to start a business in the construction industry. Students must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher. They must demonstrate current or past involvement in the construction field, including classes taken in high school or college, to be eligible for these awards. Each applicant must also submit a high school or college transcript or list of construction classes taken plus a short essay describing why they are interested in a construction industry career and what events led to this decision. Scholarship program must be postmarked on or before April 1, 2020. Only the first 25 completed applications will be accepted so please apply early. WORKSHOP: Pastoral Care Ministry Formation & Skill Building workshop “Pastoral Visitation to the Sick, Elderly and Homebound”, Mondays 4/20, 4/27 and 5/4, from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm and Saturday 5/9/20 from 8:30 AM-3 PM at St. Edward the Confessor Church, Clifton Park. Information on pastoral visitation, communication, illness issues, spiritual assessment, grief, loss, suffering, faith, death, dying, ritual, sacraments, theology of pastoral care and care giving issues. $60, includes book/materials.
