VENT Fitness: Two coronavirus patients attended Clifton Park location recently
According to an email to members of VENT Fitness, the two people from Saratoga County that recently tested positive for coronavirus used the gym in Clifton Park on March 5.
“The Saratoga County Department of Health contacted VENT Fitness on March 9th to inform us of a potential exposure at the Clifton Park location. They determined a group that attended a specific class were most at risk and are contacting this group of individuals directly to determine next steps,” gym officials wrote in the email sent out Tuesday night.
Officials with VENT Fitness said to their knowledge that any potential exposures have occurred at any of its other locations.
“We are cooperating fully with the Saratoga DOH and continuing to keep facility cleanliness our top priority at all of our locations,” President of VENT Fitness William Lia Jr. said.
Lia said Saratoga DOH advised VENT Fitness management to continue normal operations and stated the risk of others being infected was low.
According to the email, the two people had contracted the virus from another infected individual while traveling prior to coming to VENT Fitness.
“It may be possible that a person can get COVID-19 by touching a surface or object that has the virus on it and then touching their own mouth, nose, or possibly their eyes, but this is not thought to be the main way the virus spreads, gym officials said in the email.
VENT Fitness went on to say that they are advising staff and members to limit direct contact with others while at the gym.
All VENT Fitness locations have instituted the following measures:
• Increasing availability of sanitizing gels, wipes, and sprays
• Maximizing cleaning efforts by staff and advising members to clean up after equipment use
• Following the CDC Guidelines for cleaning and disinfecting
• Self-Check in (to limit person to person contact when exchanging key-tags)
• Increased signage and communications to members about hand washing and limiting contact
“We suggest each member use his/her water bottle and refill at the bottle stations. All water fountains and bottle stations will be wiped down throughout the day. Members should not share water bottles with each other,” the email stated.
The email stated that there is currently no recommendation to cancel classes or childcare, but said that may change.
“Members that appear symptomatic for COVID-19 should contact their healthcare provider or the County Department of Health in which they reside. They will then assist that person in determining next steps in detection or treatment,” the email went on to state.
“We are cooperating fully with the Saratoga County Department of Health and continuing to keep facility cleanliness our top priority at all of our locations,” the email added.
