Officials remind residents to practice social distancing during holiday weekend

BALLSTON SPA, N.Y. » The Saratoga County Department of Public Health Services announced eight new COVID-19 cases on Friday.

The county has now had 444 confirmed cases and 15 deaths. There are currently 65 active cases with 365 cases recovered.

As of Friday, four residents were hospitaliz­ed.

To date, 9,629 residents have been tested for COVID-19. A total of 2,295 residents have been in isolation or quarantine.

Clifton Park has reported the most positive cases with 99, while Halfmoon has 68. Sara

toga Springs has 45 cases, with Wilton and Malta next at 35 and 28 cases, respective­ly. Moreau has 26 positive cases, followed by Mechanicvi­lle and Milton at 19 and 18, respective­ly.

The town of Ballston reported 14 cases, with Northumber­land at 13. Greenfield and Waterford follow at 11 and 10 positive cases, respective­ly.

Rounding the list of municipali­ties with positive cases are Stillwater (10), Galway (7), Ballston Spa (7), South Glens Falls (6), town of Corinth (6), Schuylervi­lle (5), town of Saratoga (5), Round Lake (3), Charlton (2), Providence (2), Waterford (2), Hadley (1) and village of Corinth (1).

Memorial Day Weekend

It is still recommende­d that you maintain social distance and wear a mask or face covering while in shared public spaced.

Here are a few different ways you can celebrate safely:

• Get Outdoors – Go for a hike, bike, walk or have a picnic with your household while still maintainin­g social distance from others

• Game Night – Take on a puzzle or pull out a board game.

• Drive-in Movies – Local

drive-in movie theaters have opened with some new rules. Be sure to visit their websites for more informatio­n before attending.

• Outdoor Cookout – Order from your favorite restaurant or start up the grill and have a family barbeque at home with the members of your household.

• Driveway Chalk Art – Thank our veterans and honor Memorial Day by making patriotic driveway chalk art for everyone to see on their walks.

Remember to be safe, maintain social distance, and help protect all of our loved ones this holiday weekend.
