Junior Colleen Quaglia, a native of East Greenbush and Albany Academy graduate, continues to add to her impressive collegiate resume.

The All-American’s latest honor stems from her being selected to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District® At-Large Team for her combined performance in the pool and in the classroom.

This is the second consecutive year she has been recognized by CoSIDA, which acknowledges outstanding student-athletes in four divisions; NCAA Division I, II, and III, and NAIA.

As a first-team selection, Quaglia will appear on the CoSIDA Academic All-America® ballot. First, second, and third-team (if applicable) Academic All-America® honorees will be announced from June 13-16.

Quaglia, an accounting major, qualified for the NCAA Cham

pionships in the 200-yard butterfly and the 500 freestyle. However, she was unable to participate as the meet was canceled the day prior to her scheduled events in light of the COVID-19 outbreak.

She was later deemed an All-American by the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) on the basis of her qualifying performances.

Quaglia also earned Honorable Mention All-America plaudits behind a school record 500 freestyle performance at the 2019 NCAA Championships.

This past season, she recorded the Northeast-10 Conference’s second fastest times in the 100 backstroke and 200 butterfly, and the third fastest time in the 50 back. She touched second in the 100 back, 200 fly, and 500 free at the NE10 Championships and was the only student-athlete to be named the conference’s Swimmer of the Week three times throughout the year.

A versatile swimmer and an outstanding scholar, she was recently named to the NE10 All-Academic Team for the second consecutive season.

In addition, Quaglia is the school record holder in the 50, 100, 200, and 500 freestyles, the 100 and 200 butterflies, and the 100 and 200 backstrokes. She is furthermore part of the school record holding 200 and 400 medley relay quartets and is a two-time NE10 champion in the 100 backstroke.

The Division II and III CoSIDA Academic AllAmerica® programs are partially financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures to assist CoSIDA with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2019-20 Divisions II and III Academic All-America® programs.

The NAIA CoSIDA Academic All-America® program is partially financially supported through the NAIA national office.
