Hop On Home holding online pledge drive

GANSEVOORT, N.Y. » Hop on Home, the nonprofit organization dedicated to rabbit rescue and support, is holding an online pledge drive until May 31.

The drive replaces activities that were scheduled for the coming months, such as a 5k run and a golf tournament, in the wake of the ongoing COVID-19 crisis.

Said Shelby Wimet-Himelrick, one of the founders of Hop on Home, “In the process of figuring out what fundraising we can do at this time that is safe, we opted for a pledge drive. To think beyond ourselves at this time, we realize as a nonprofit we rely on community and small business to support our efforts. So, we have decided to work with a few small businesses that support the sanctuary to help bring business to them while they can’t do business as usual.”

Pledges made to Hop on Home during the online pledge drive will receive a thank you gift from one of the small businesses partnered with the rabbit sanctuary.

“We know these businesses need revenue to provide for themselves to keep business going, so items have not been donated,” explained WimetHimelrick. “We are purchasing items for pledge thank you gifts to help sustain their business. So when an individual makes a pledge to Hop on Home, they will not only be helping us meet our goals to help rabbits in need and open our new facility, but helping local business stay afloat.”

Some of the small businesses working with Hop on Home that will also benefit from the pledge drive include Rebel Wood Soap Works of Schuylerville, Schultz Farm of Stillwater, and Airway Meadows Golf Course in Gansevoort.

Pledges can be made online at hoponhome.org/donate. Checks are also accepted, and can be made out to Hop on Home and mailed to 23 St. John’s Dr, Gansevoort NY, 12831.

“While we need to evolve and make up for lost revenue to help rabbits in need and open our facility, others need help too,” said Wimet-Himelrick. “In this time, and always, you should look to find ways to help others and this is a way we can try to do both.”
