DAM THAT CREEK: Schoharie Crossing State Historic Site is offering online programs this month that will include a presentation by Derrick Pratt of the Erie Canal Museum. The first will be on Tuesday, June 23rd at 6:30pm as the site will provide an online program titled, “Dam that Creek!” This program will discuss the first dam across the Schoharie Creek for the Erie Canal and how it provided a means for barges to navigate through its waters. Schoharie Crossing is offering this slate of online programs while the Visitor Center is closed during the COVID-19 crisis. During NY on PAUSE, the Erie Canal historic site will provide programs through Webex as well as other online programs and social media such as Facebook Live. Additional programs will be scheduled, so please keep in touch with
us by joining our mailing list or following online. The site grounds will remain open for appropriate socially distant recreational use from dawn until dusk daily. Juan Hinojosa, current exhibiting Art Installation Series artist, will be leading an Advanced Collage Night! Hinojosa will lead participants in making their own collages that combine traditional paper materials with 3D items found around the home, like buttons, costume jewelry, iron-on patches, or even small plastic dinosaurs and legos! Hinojosa will also discuss adhesives for different materials, how to use a rigid support, and how to display a more 3D work. The event is free and open to the public, but registration is required to receive link access to the event.

BASEBALL ON THE ERIE
CANAL: Schoharie Crossing State Historic Site is offering online programs this month that will include a presentation by Derrick Pratt of the Erie Canal Museum. As part of a double-header of online presentations at the end of June, Pratt will provide the program through Webex that will discuss the Erie Canal’s many connections to the earliest days of professional baseball. Using stories from some of the game’s biggest stars and others long forgotten, discover the connection that the canal has to our national past-time. This program is scheduled for Wednesday, June 24th at 6:30pm. SHORT STORY CAFE: 6 p.m. on Wednesday, June 24. Local short-story writer Dave Sylvester hosts The Short Story Café, an informal discussion of the short story form that examines how writers handle structural elements such as plot, character and theme in their writing. Each week we will read and discuss two stories by wellknown (and some lesserknown!) masters of the form. Copies of the stories will be available in advance and should be read before the discussions. CONCERT IN THE PARK:
CANCELED - The Ballston Spa Business and Professional Association has presented free summer events for the community for many years. This year the COVID-19 pandemic has curtailed some of the public activities that residents and visitors to
village of Ballston Spa have come to enjoy. The Concerts in the Park Series, which normally takes place Thursday evenings from 6-8 pm and originally planned to start June 25, has been cancelled for June and July dates. The BSBPA is currently planning to present concerts on August 6, 13, 20 and 27. Concerts will be held outside in Lions Music Park at the historic Iron Spring Park on Front Street.
