Sheriff’s department personnel earn life saving awards
BALLSTONSPA, N.Y. » Saratoga County Sheriff Michael Zurlo recently recognized three members of the CommunicationsDivision with Life Saving Awards for their role in the reversal of a cardiac arrest of a fellow telecommunicator.
Additionally, six members of the division were awarded Certificates of Merit for their roles during themedical emergency which occurred within the 911 center.
On September 17, 2020 a telecommunicator working in the Communications Center suffered cardiac arrest.
Relying upon their training and teamwork skills, they initiated CPR until relieved by paramedics of Community EMS.
“The calmness demonstrated by these members during this event is amazing,” Zurlo said in a press release. “To have an event as tragic as this have happen in a working high volume 911 Center is a testament to their professionalism and dedication.”
Desk Sergeant Kurt Haas, Desk Officer Thomas Lundquist and Director of Emergency Communications Steven Gordon each received a Life Saving Award during a ceremony on Tuesday at the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office.
Certificates of Merit were also presented to Desk Sergeant Leah Kane, Desk Sergeant Timothy Johnston, Desk Officer George Downs, Desk Officer Niklas Kaplan, Desk Officer Joshua Ot ten and Desk Officer William Cody Marshall.
