Catholic Charities of Saratoga, Warren and Washington Counties invites the local community to unwrap the magic of the holiday season at their 25th annual fundraiser - The Festival of Trees - onWednesday, Dec. 2through Sunday,
Dec. 6, at the Saratoga Springs City Center. With COVID-19precautions in place, the Festival will once again showcase beautifully decorated trees, wreaths and other holiday and gift items for purchase. Festival proceeds will benefit the programs of Catholic Charities of Saratoga, Warren and Washington Counties. New this year, the community will also be able to view and purchase trees online at https://give.classy.org/ festivaltrees. Hours vary as follows: Wednesday 5-7pm; Thursday 4-9pm; Friday 2-6pm; Saturday 12-6pm; and Sunday 11-2pm. Tickets are $8per person, $5for Seniors, $3for ages 10-18 and free for anyone 10and under when accompanied by an adult. The Festival will go on without traditional group activities, such as Breakfast with Santa. Instead, various “Santa Experiences” are available for interested families. Children will receive a letter or video call from Santa or parents can purchase a DIY Christmas Cookie Kit to decorate at home. TAKEOUT ROAST BEEF DINNER:
Knights of Columbus #246will be hosting a Fundraiser Takeout Roast Beef Dinner on Friday, December 4th, from 5:00-7:30 at 50Pine Rd, Saratoga Springs. Meals will include 8oz. each of tender Roast Beef, Mashed Potatoes with Gravy, a Vegetable, Salad, and Rolls for $15.00each. Because of the planning involved, orders must be called in ahead of time. At our last event, we ended up running out of food, and individuals who waited to call at the last minute were unfortunately not able to be accommodated. Call-in hours will be on Wednesday, 12⁄2, Thursday, 12⁄3, and on Friday, the day of the event, between the hours of 1:00 and 4:00or until we run out. TREE LIGHTING & HOLIDAY PARADE:
The Ballston Spa Business and Professional Association is making every effort to keep the holiday spirit alive even if COVID-19restrictions to large gatherings require a different approach to the celebrations. On Friday, December 4at 6-6:30pm, Santa will light the village Christmas tree fromthe bucket of a fire truck in Wiswall Park. The tree lighting will be livestreamed on the BSBPA Facebook Page. For those who may choose to come to the park, New York State COVID-19social distancing and mask requirements will be followed. Following the tree lighting, residents should be sure to peek out their front windows or stand at the end of their driveways as Santa will parade through neighborhoods in the village, along with the Ballston Spa Police and Fire Departments and Community Emergency Corps’ ambulance collecting Toys for Tots. The approximate route and times will be posted closer to the parade date on the BSBPA Facebook Page. The BSBPA sponsors a downtown holiday window decorating contest, which inspires some beautiful displays in shop windows along the main streets. Additionally, the village-sponsored annual holiday community art project “5,278Points of Light”, under the direction of local artist Mark Blech, will feature handpainted banners displayed on lampposts throughout the village and an ornament decorating competition. So never fear, Santa is coming to town, there will be a tree lighting and whimsical community-made decorations. Village shop windows will be decorated, and good cheer will abound.
