Town of Moreau, NY Cheryl Louise Pierson (Cherie) passed away peacefully at home on February 19th, 2021 with her loving family at her side. Family and friends shared their love, memories, and support with Cherie during her last few months. They were deeply appreciated. Cherie was born on August 2, 1956 in Olyphant, PA to Marjorie and Richard Boerlin. She grew up in West Chester, PA where her father was a music professor at West Chester University, and her mother was a Teacher at the local High School. Cherie met her husband, Jim, while they were both attending SUNY College of Environmental Science & Forestry in Syracuse, NY. They were married shortly after that in 1978. Cherie attended Drexel University where she received her masters in Library Science. She had a rewarding 30- year career at Merck Pharmaceutical as an Information Scientist. She was grateful and proud of her work at Merck, and especially enjoyed being a mentor to others. Despite her demanding professional career, she always found time for her most important job -, Mom to her kids. Cherie had a passion for sewing and quilting. Daughter to a home-ec teacher, she learned to sew at a young age and in retirement she spent many hours piecing together quilts and other crafts which she often gave as presents to those she cared about. She felt that every stitch she placed represented love and a hugs for the recipient. Cherie always had a passion for the outdoors; she enjoyed spending time at the family cabin in the Adirondack Mountains, and was an active member of the Friends of Moreau Lake State Park. She is survived by her husband of 42 years, Jim Pierson; her daughter and son-in-law, Emily and Ben Metier; and her son and his Fiancee, Eric Pierson and Heather Lamour. She is also survived by her mother, three siblings and their spouses. Cherie will also be forever remembered and deeply missed by her numerous in-laws, nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. A celebration of life will be held at a later date when it is safe to gather. Those who so desire may make a memorial donations in memory of Cherie to the Community Hospice (www.givetocommunityhospice.org/donate).
