Skidmore College to host virtual event with Dr. Cornel West

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. » Dr. Cornell West will be the featured guest on April 12 in a virtual event hosted by Skidmore College.

At 7 p.m. West will participat­e in live conversati­ons on a range of topics with panelists Cerri Banks, dean of students and vice president for student affairs at Skidmore College; Gwen D’Arcangelis, associate professor of gender studies at Skidmore; Anissa Joseph ‘22, a political science major at Skidmore; and Kezia Page, associate professor and director of Africana and Latin American studies at Colgate University.

West is a philosophe­r, author, activist, social critic and one of the most provocativ­e public intellectu­als of our time. He has published more than 20 books, has appeared in over 25 documentar­ies and films, and has produced three spoken word albums, including “Never Forget,” collaborat­ing with Prince, Jill Scott, Andre 3000, Talib Kweli, KRS-One and the late Gerald Levert.

A professor emeritus at Princeton University, West recently announced he would leave his position as professor of the practice of public philosophy at Harvard University and return to Union Theologica­l Seminary, where he started his teaching career and will hold the Dietrich Bonhoeffer Chair.
