Wilton, NY - Richard Gladu died unexpected­ly this week. He was a generous person with a witty sense of humor and a captivatin­g storytelle­r. He always put the needs of his family ahead of his own.

After graduating from the University of New Hampshire he worked with IBM for 35 years. He was a respected coworker and supervisor whom one employee referred to as “one of the original good guys.” Through his empathy, sense of humor and appreciati­on of happy hour, Richard made many friends who he loved dearly. He was also a loving dog dad to several lucky poodles throughout his life. Richard will be missed tremendous­ly and his spirit lives on through family and friends.

Richard is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Karen Gladu, his brother, David Gladu, and his wife Priscilla; his three children, Kristin Cieplicki and her husband Keith, David Gladu and his wife Tina, and Eric Gladu. He is also survived by his four grandchild­ren Christophe­r Gladu, Kathrin Cieplicki and her husband David Curtis, Brian Cieplicki and Matthew Cieplicki. Richard was a devoted husband, father and grandfathe­r to his family.

Relatives and friend may call from 12 noon to 2pm Saturday August 14, 2021 at the William J. Burke & Sons/Bussing & Cunniff Funeral Homes, 628 North Broadway. A Celebratio­n of Life will follow at 2pm. Appropriat­e face coverings will be required. In lieu of flowers, his family requests that donations be made in his name to the American Heart Associatio­n.
