Wilton, NY - Richard Gladu died unexpectedly this week. He was a generous person with a witty sense of humor and a captivating storyteller. He always put the needs of his family ahead of his own.
After graduating from the University of New Hampshire he worked with IBM for 35 years. He was a respected coworker and supervisor whom one employee referred to as “one of the original good guys.” Through his empathy, sense of humor and appreciation of happy hour, Richard made many friends who he loved dearly. He was also a loving dog dad to several lucky poodles throughout his life. Richard will be missed tremendously and his spirit lives on through family and friends.
Richard is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Karen Gladu, his brother, David Gladu, and his wife Priscilla; his three children, Kristin Cieplicki and her husband Keith, David Gladu and his wife Tina, and Eric Gladu. He is also survived by his four grandchildren Christopher Gladu, Kathrin Cieplicki and her husband David Curtis, Brian Cieplicki and Matthew Cieplicki. Richard was a devoted husband, father and grandfather to his family.
Relatives and friend may call from 12 noon to 2pm Saturday August 14, 2021 at the William J. Burke & Sons/Bussing & Cunniff Funeral Homes, 628 North Broadway. A Celebration of Life will follow at 2pm. Appropriate face coverings will be required. In lieu of flowers, his family requests that donations be made in his name to the American Heart Association.
