HALFMOON, N.Y. >> Lush Lounge, located at 1798 Route 9, is officially open for business. The family-oriented hair salon held its ribbon cutting on Thursday and grand opening on Saturday. Owner Stephanie Villano, a Clifton Park native, is looking forward to serving her community.

“I love the area, the community is great,” she said. “I’m going to try to be as involved as possible.”

Villano has been in the beauty industry for eleven years, and Lush Lounge is her first venture as a salon owner. Her business is built around the idea of family and the flexibility that’s required of being a working mother.

“We’re very family-oriented,

we’re all working moms,” Villano said. “I’m looking to create art in beauty at a very affordable price, in a fun atmosphere — we love to goof around and dance in here. I have a great crew, we support each other, and it’s definitely a dream come true.”

Explaining her business model, Villano continued, “Being a mom of two young ones, I want to be able to do both things that I love the most — hair and taking care of my family. If you’re working for someone else, that can be challenging. Being my own boss means I have flexibility, and so does my crew. If their kid gets sick, if they need a day off to be with their family, I want them to be able to take that time. Customers are probably going to see our kids

in here running around and playing.”

Villano received praise for her family-forward thinking at her ribbon cutting, which was attended by family members and close friends of not just Villano but her team of stylists as well.

“It’s courageous individuals like you who are going to bring our economy back and save our communities,” said state senator Jim Tedisco.

“It’s been very trying times,” added state senator Daphne Jordan. “I want to wish you the best of luck here.”

Clifton Park Town Supervisor Phil Barrett described Villano as “another fine entrepreneur” and thanked her for investing in the town.

“Every ribbon cutting is the celebration of a dream come true,” said Saratoga County Chamber president Todd Shimkus. “It’s never more true than with a young couple with young children who are following their passion.”

Villano received citations for Lush Lounge from Tedisco, Jordan, and a representative for Assemblywoman Mary Beth Walsh.

Lush Lounge is open five days a week, Tuesday 10 a.m. — 5 pm, WednesdayFriday 10 a.m. — 7 p.m., and Saturday 10 a.m. — 3 p.m.
