WALLACE “WALLY” GAILOR

-

Gansevoort, NY - Wallace “Wally” E. Gailor passed away peacefully Wednesday August 11, 2021 surrounded by his loving family.

Born July 10, 1950 the son of the late Earl J. and Violet Morey Gailor in Saratoga Springs. Wally attended Galway H.S. while growing up at “the farm” with his maternal grandparents John and Leah Mae Morey after untimely passing of his mother when he was an infant. He was also predeceased by his infant siblings John Wallace and Leah Catherine.

He played every sport he could as kid and even as an adult. He would always say that golf was the hardest game he ever played and he played a lot of them.

Wally worked for the State in the soils lab for 35 years and made many friends as a bartender at the Townhouse, Dozer’s and Brookhaven along with his many years with Mary when they owned and operated Nashville North Saloon. He would always have a story to tell along with a joke to make everyone laugh. He would always say that if he couldn’t remember your name then he knew what your drink order was. He spent a lot of his free time at the track with the guys before he would have to go work at his favorite job of picking up his granddaughters from school, his absolute favorite job he held he would always say. They were his absolute pride and joy.

Wally is survived by his wife Marietta, his daughter Susan Barbolt, granddaughters Micaela and Keira. Brother in law Dominick Guisti (Susan) of Garrison, nephew Christopher (Angela) Guisti and niece Elizabeth Vasta (Kenny) all of Peekskill along with his many cousins and friends.

The family would like to thank Community Hospice especially Kelly and Danielle along with Nikki Benincasa, Joan Cummings, Traci Davis, Ann and Mary Carey and a special thank you to Stephanie Bull who came to his rescue multiple times.

Relatives and friend may call from 4pm to 7pm Tuesday, August 17, 2021 at the William J. Burke & Sons/Bussing & Cunniff Funeral Homes, 628 North Broadway (518-584-5373). Appropriate face coverings will be required.
