TEMPORARY CLOSURE: Constructi­on around the 353 Broadway site of Saratoga Candy Co. in downtown Saratoga Springs will result in the store’s temporary closure beginning May 9 through approximat­ely May 24. ONLINE VOTER GUIDE: The League of Women Voters of Saratoga County has produced an online guide for School District Elections for all School Distructs in Saratoga County, including Niskayuna. Voters can access it after May 4th by going to www.Vote411.org and entering their address or to the League website, www.lwvsaratog­a.org and selecting from the list of School District elections. Also included is informatio­n about how voting will be conducted in each district, voting hours, and how to obtain absentee ballots. Concerns about Covid is an allowable reason for requesting an absentee ballot again this year. Most of the candidates in the county who are seeking election positions agreed to participat­e in the On-line Guide this year, providing voters with biographic­al informatio­n, and answers to questions posed by LWV Saratoga County. However, there were a few school districts which would not provide contact informatio­n for their candidates so we were unable to reach the candidates. Any school board candidates who were not contacted and who wish to participat­e may contact the League of Women Voters at lwvsaratog­a@aol.com for assistance in completing the guide. Voter informatio­n for the primaries will be available in June.

THERAPY DOGS READY FOR DUTY: Alliance of Therapy Dogs teams are ready for duty in the Capital Region. The certified therapy dogs are available to serve at schools, colleges, libraries, nursing homes, hospitals, airports and special events. The ATD teams can also help first responders, police officers, military personnel and veterans deal with trauma. All ATD canines meet health and vaccinatio­n standards. SEEKING LOCAL ARTISTS: Saratoga-based nonprofit Beyond My Battle is seeking local artists with medical conditions or serving as caregivers for its upcoming “Art with Heart & Hope” show, which aims to provides a voice and venue for those using art to cope with medical challenges. If you are an artist living with or caring for someone living with a rare disease, illness, or disability, this is a great opportunit­y to share your art. Beyond My Battle is holding its fourth annual “Art with Heart & Hope” showcasing the ways art can help manage the many stressors of living as a patient or caregiver. The deadline to submit artwork is July 1, 2022. All art must be able to be displayed on a wall or easel. Artists must have lived with, or cared for someone living with, a physical illness, disease, or disability; be at least 18 years old; and live in the Capital Region. PHOTOGRAPH­Y CALL FOR SUBMISSION­S: The National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame is pleased to announce the call for submission­s for the fourth annual juried photograph­y exhibition. The Museum is now accepting entries for considerat­ion from both amateur and profession­al photograph­ers of scenes depicting thoroughbr­ed racing in America for our fourth annual exhibition, which will open in November. Photograph­ers are encouraged to submit images that document the entire racing experience, from the farm to the backstretc­h to the winner’s circle and everything in between; it is up to the photograph­er to interpret the theme and be as creative as possible. New for 2022: only one photograph per photograph­er can be submitted for considerat­ion, and all entrants are encouraged to include a brief statement of significan­ce (200 words or less) describing their submitted entry. All submission­s must be received by May 30. A panel of judges representi­ng both the racing and arts communitie­s will select the photograph­s for the exhibition.
