Hot Springs On The GO!

The Sentinel-Record - HER - Hot Springs - - News -

It's crazy to think it has been a year since assuming this role with Hot Springs on the Go!, but here we are, having re-branded ourselves and better serving the community with each issue. And for that, we want to thank our readers for the encouragement along the way.

Luckily for Hot Springs, we are a community of people who love to have fun and entertain while serving a greater purpose. Some of the many ways we demonstrate this is through our various festivals throughout the year; however, it seems some of the best events come to life when the weather starts to get a little more chilly and fall makes its debut.

A staple of our community is the Hot Springs Documentary Film Festival, now in its 24th year, which is known for bringing A-list talent to our city for more than a week of beautiful films spanning a broad spectrum of topics. This year, the opening feature is all about Hot Springs and its unique baseball history as “The First Boys of Spring” will debut ahead of its televised premiere scheduled for Spring of 2016. Emmy award-winning documentarian Larry Foley has a passion for baseball and Hot Springs' connections to it, making this a sure home-run for the HSDFF.

When Oktoberfest ended its run years ago, a new festival — the Hot Water Hills Music, Food and Art Weekend — formed to fill the void. Oktoberfest has since returned with a warm welcome to the Spa City, and HWH continues to attract more musicians and artists each year.

The Spa City Blues Festival has taken a new approach this year, joining forces with Oaklawn Racing & Gaming to present the Hot Springs Blues and BBQ festival. With a new location and a new name, the event is sure to continue that same spirit people have come to love.

One thing is for sure, there's always something happening in Hot Springs. Get out and enjoy it.
