HS quilter to speak to Village Quilt Guild
HOT SPRINGS VILLAGE – Wilma Blair, of Hot Springs, will be the guest speaker at the Village Quilt Guild meeting on May 10 at the Ouachita Building of Ponce de Leon Center on Desoto Boulevard
Her program, The Ingredients of Color Make Appetizing Quilts, will highlight different color combinations and how they apply to fabric for quilts. She will use a variety of example quilts to demonstrate color schemes, such as accented neutrals, complementary colors, and monochromatic combinations.
Following her lecture, Blair will conduct a half- day workshop, Reverse Applique, to demonstrate the technique of taking shapes cut from the interior of a piece of fabric and turning under the raw edges to expose a second layer of fabric. There is a $ 20 class fee plus a $ 5 pattern. Call Vera Owen at 922- 4220 to register for the class.
An Arkansas native, Blair retired with her husband to Hot Springs 11 years ago after a 28- year career teaching home economics.

She is also active with the Garland County Arts and Crafts Show and the Garland County Extension Homemakers, and helps organize the annual Relay for Life Luncheon.
