City planning director, county judge discuss adopted planning area
Kathy Sellman, director of Hot Springs Planning and Development, and Garland County Judge Rick Davis will address the Brown Bag Lunch attendees at noon Monday at the Garland County Democratic Headquarters, 608 W. Grand Ave. They will discuss Hot Springs’ existing adopted planning area and current cooperative efforts between Hot Springs Planning Commission and Davis’ appointed committee to study and agree about “who will do what and where regarding future land development in the areas immediately outside Hot Springs city limits.” The working group’s recommendations will go to the City Board of Directors and to the Garland County Quorum Court.
Sellman oversees the administration and enforcement of ordinances relating to land use and development. The department addresses such issues as zoning, subdivisions, mobile homes, signage and the Historic District. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of New Hampshire and a Master of Planning and Community Development from the University of Colorado – Denver, and has spent 30- plus years in local government.
Davis was owner of Daveco Construction Co. Inc. for more than 33 years. He served as project coordinator for the Central Avenue utility project from design through completion. Davis is a past board member of the Garland County Conservation District.
