City planning director, county judge discuss adopted planning area

Kathy Sellman, director of Hot Springs Planning and Developmen­t, and Garland County Judge Rick Davis will address the Brown Bag Lunch attendees at noon Monday at the Garland County Democratic Headquarte­rs, 608 W. Grand Ave. They will discuss Hot Springs’ existing adopted planning area and current cooperativ­e efforts between Hot Springs Planning Commission and Davis’ appointed committee to study and agree about “who will do what and where regarding future land developmen­t in the areas immediatel­y outside Hot Springs city limits.” The working group’s recommenda­tions will go to the City Board of Directors and to the Garland County Quorum Court.

Sellman oversees the administra­tion and enforcemen­t of ordinances relating to land use and developmen­t. The department addresses such issues as zoning, subdivisio­ns, mobile homes, signage and the Historic District. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of New Hampshire and a Master of Planning and Community Developmen­t from the University of Colorado – Denver, and has spent 30- plus years in local government.

Davis was owner of Daveco Constructi­on Co. Inc. for more than 33 years. He served as project coordinato­r for the Central Avenue utility project from design through completion. Davis is a past board member of the Garland County Conservati­on District.
