Magic Springs kicks off Celebrate The Word

-

Magic Springs Water and Theme Park will present the first weekend of Celebrate The Word, a Christian festival spanning three summer weekends, with award- winning bands Third Day and Tenth Avenue North and inspirational speaker Kevin Downes.

The multi- platinum- selling rock band Third Day has played to millions of fans in numerous sold- out arenas around the world.

It’s garnered 25 No. 1 singles across multiple formats – not to mention armloads of Grammy and Dove Awards.

Yet the band’s willingness to struggle openly before fans and critics alike to unearth its identity, purpose, and mission stands as Third Day’s most valued accomplishment during its first decade together. Backing up the band’s ascent, Billboard magazine noted the act is “not only one of the best Christian bands of the ‘ 90s but one of the best rock bands, period.”

Tenth Avenue North is an award- winning American contemporary Christian music band from West Palm Beach, Fla.

The group released its debut album, “Over and Underneath in 2008,” which featured the hit song “Love is Here.”

The band’s next album, “The Light Meets The Dark,” was released in May 2010.

The first single from that album, “Healing Begins” spent 29 weeks on the Billboard Christian Songs chart.

Tenth Avenue North has toured with David Crowder Band, Casting Crowns, and Mercy Me, and headlines its own dates throughout the United States. In August, the band is scheduled to release its next album, “The Struggle.”

Speaker Kevin Downes is co- star of the 2011 Sherwood Pictures film “Courageous,” and producer of the 2010 film “Like Dandelion Dust.”

In 1994, Downes was cast in his first Christian film, “The Crossing.” Since that time, he has appeared in 13 Christian films.

His most recent project is based on New York Times best- selling author Karen Kingsbury’s novel, “Like Dandelion Dust,” which was released in theaters in fall 2010, and can be seen airing on television.

Trevor Morgan will open for Third Day at 7: 45 p. m. on Saturday and Third Day will perform at 8 p. m. at the Magic Springs Timberwood Amphitheater.

On Sunday, Kyle Thurman, winner of the Battle of the Bands competition, will perform at 5: 30 p. m., followed by an inspirational message from speaker Downes at 6 p. m. Tenth Avenue North will close the night with a performance at 7 p. m.
