Pickleball tourney marks six years

HOT SPRINGS VILLAGE – Sixty- four athletes from five states took to the Village’s pickleball courts recently for a special three- day tournament.

In addition to attracting multiple levels of pickleball expertise, the event also commemorated six years of the sport in Hot Springs Village.

Of the total players in the Pickleball Celebration tournament, 25 were Villagers, and 39 were visitors from Louisiana, Kansas, Tennessee and Texas, in addition to other parts of Arkansas.

Competitors played in nine divisions based on skill level with the following results:

Men’s Singles 4.0- plus – Kent Kuch, first place, Bobby Roling, second place, and Steve Broxterman, third place.

Women’s Singles 3.5- plus – Christie Borne, first place, Ann Broxterman, second place, and Sherril Kerr, third place.

Men’s Doubles 4.0- plus – Ronnie Hawkins and Bobby Roling, first place, Jerry Terrell and Tim Clifford, second place, and Kent Kuch and Jim McPherson, third place.

Men’s Doubles 3.5/ 3.0 – Larry Davis and Al Stout, first place, Vic Drennen and Vince Forte, second place, and Jerry Lewter and Dennis Wild, third place.

Women’s Doubles 3.5- plus – Angela Luhman and Charlotte Rivera, first place, Diane Ramsdell and Jo Ellen Johnson, second place, and Rebekah Maddalena and Roselyn Ware, third place.

Women’s Doubles 3.0/ 2.5 – Gigi Higdon and Megan Pinkerton, first place, Jane Riffel and Sue Bencriscutto, second place, and Julie Schrader and Debbie Ritchey, third place.

Women’s Doubles 2.0 – Brenda Childs and Pat Jackson, first place, Becki Tetu and Clara Burnley, second place, and Lori McMinn and Mariette Morgan, third place.

Mixed Doubles 4.0- plus – Charlotte Rivera and Larry Patrick, first place, Roselyn Ware and Dom Greco III, second place, and Christie Borne and Roger Workman, third place.

Mixed Doubles 3.5/ 3.0 – Kim Dorn and Larry Davis, first place, Gigi Higdon and Dom Greco Jr., second place, and Anne Harrigton and Paul Fultz, third place.

Mixed Doubles 2.5 – Pat Jackson and Jolly Higdon, first place, Brenda Childs and Mike McWha, second place, and Helen Rueter and Jim Rueter, third place.
