Music Festival musicians to perform for early shoppers
Music, art, and fresh foods on Saturday will be part of the Historic Downtown Farmers and Artists Market, 121 Orange St.
The market will be open from 7 a. m. to noon.
The Hot Springs Music Festival Chamber Players will perform for early shoppers from 8: 30- 9 a. m.
Elise Eliana Janae will entertain from 9: 30- 10: 30 a. m., and create ethereal sounds with crystal bowls, tuning forks, Native American flutes, and Tibetan bowls.
Donna Dunnahoe will demonstrate coil basketry and the Garland County Library will hold StoryTime at 9: 30 a. m.
The Ray Farm of Hot Spring County is featured, located at the first two spots under the Farmers Market Pavilion at the south entrance.
The first spot in the southeast corner of the pavilion has a commemorative plaque dedicated to the memory of Willard Ray, who along with Barbara Ray have provided the farmers’ market with locally grown produce for more than a decade.
The Rays started their family farm in 1964 raising cattle and hogs.
They transitioned into crops with the growing popularity of farmers’ markets in the region.
Their son Greg joined the farm full- time in 2005, and after Willard Ray’s death in 2009, the Rays continued the family farm where they now farm 12 acres and raise tomatoes, okra, squash, cucumbers, peppers, potatoes, onions, greens, cabbage, lettuce, purple hull peas, green beans and
