An artful collaboration
Dear editor:
I would like to express my gratitude to The Sentinel- Record for giving space for letters to the editor.
I am expressing my thanks to Dr. Janet Hugo, director of Arkansas School for Mathematics, Sciences and the Arts, who will be leaving at the end of this month, and to the ASMSA staff who have been supportive of the arts and artists.
Barbara A. Sloan, of AKAS II, has worked hard to bring the arts and artists to the school for display, education and enjoyment. Barbara has done this for almost five years, as a volunteer working in the background. She deserves the highest praise for this.
Barbara also has her artwork on display in the lobby of the school administration building. The exhibit is dedicated to Barbara’s late father, Clay A. Sloan, M. D.
Her stories are told through photographs, mostly of flowers, each accompanied by a short, typed history or explanation of the artwork. I was deeply moved by the exhibit and I highly recommend that you get by there before June 29. The display is open weekdays from 9 a. m. to 4 p. m. and by appointment ( call 623- 5802).
If it hadn’t been for Barbara, the Marjorie Lawrence Project would have never been created. Thank you, Barbara, Janet, her staff, Alison Harbour and The Sentinel- Record. Rose Daisy McDonald
