“Coronary disease is the narrowing or blockage of the coronary arteries, which carry blood to the heart. This narrowing or blockage can lead to severe chest pain ( angina), or ultimately a heart attack,” a news release said.

“Coronary heart disease is the leading cause of death for both men and women. But fortunately, coronary disease risk factors can be lowered through diet, exercise, health screenings, medication, and other measures that Dr. Bowen will discuss during his lunch and learn sessions,” the release said.

Bowen is board certified in cardiovascular diseases and practices the full scope of cardiology, with a focus on interventional cardiology.

A native Arkansan, he received his undergraduate degree from Harding University in Searcy and completed his medical degree and residency at UAMS. He received fellowship training in cardiovascular diseases at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation and further fellowship training in interventional cardiology at Vanderbilt University.

Bowen practiced in the Conway and Little Rock areas prior to coming to Hot Springs in 2010.

Bowen practices from the Cardiology Associates of Hot Springs, 130 Medical Park St. in Hot Springs, and from the NPMC Healthcenter at Hot Springs Village, 121 Cordoba Center Drive.
