AP source: Bucks trade forward to Kings

-

The Milwaukee Bucks traded forward Luc Mbah a Moute to the Sacramento Kings in exchange for a 2016 second- round draft pick, a person familiar with the deal said Tuesday.

The person, who spoke on condition of anonymity to The Associated Press because teams can’t confirm moves until the new league year begins today, also said Milwaukee has the right to swap 2018 secondround picks.

“Just landed in Cameroon and got told I’ve been traded to Sacramento!!” Mbah a Moute wrote on his Twitter page.

The 6- foot- 8, 230- pound forward has emerged as a standout defender since he was drafted 37th overall out of UCLA by the Bucks in 2008. He has averaged 6.9 points and 5.3 rebounds in 25.1 minutes per game in his career.

Guard Harris goes back to first team — Mavericks

DALLAS — Free- agent guard Devin Harris is headed back to the Dallas Mavericks, nine years after starting his career with them as a high draft pick.

Dallas star Dirk Nowitzki tweeted Tuesday that Harris was rejoining the Mavericks, who ended up with him at No. 5 overall in the 2004 draft in a deal that sent Antawn Jamison to Washington. Harris’ contract is reportedly for three years and $ 9 million.

The 30- year- old Harris averaged 9.9 points and 3.4 assists in Atlanta last season.

Harris spent his first 3 1/ 2 seasons in Dallas and played in the 2006 NBA Finals before going to New Jersey in the trade for Jason Kidd in 2008. The Nets sent him to Utah when they acquired Deron Williams in 2011.

NBA fines Rockets $ 150k for Howard comments

NEW YORK — The Houston Rockets talked too much, too soon about Dwight Howard.

A league spokesman confirms the team and its personnel were fined $ 150,000 by the NBA for comments made about

the All- Star center during the moratorium period.

Howard committed to leave the Los Angeles Lakers and join the Rockets on Friday, and Rockets general manager Daryl Morey gave an interview later that night with Comcast SportsNet Houston in which he talked about the recruitment and landing of him. Coach Kevin McHale also discussed Howard over the weekend at the Orlando Summer League.

Though free agency opened July 1, deals can’t become official until today, after the 2013- 14 salary cap is set.

AP source: Warriors to sign Douglas, O’Neal

OAKLAND, Calif. — With the NBA’s moratorium on free agency set to lift today, the Golden State Warriors wrapped up most of their major work ahead of schedule.

The Warriors added some depth by reaching agreements with guard Toney Douglas and center Jermaine O’Neal on Tuesday, a person with knowledge of the situation said. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because teams can’t confirm moves until the new league year begins today.

Both are believed to be oneyear contracts.

The moves cap a busy and bountiful period for general manager Bob Myers and his staff since free- agent talks began July 1. While there will surely be additional roster moves, it’s unlikely the Warriors will do any more major shuffling this summer.

Golden State already has agreements in place to sign Andre Iguodala, Marreese Speights, Douglas and O’Neal. The team even announced Tuesday that the Warriors’ first- round pick, Serbian point guard Nemanja Nedovic, signed his rookie contract.
