Voces8 to be featured at March 8 benefit

-

HOT SPRINGS VILLAGE — The Hot Springs Village Community Foundation will present Voces8 at 7: 30 p. m. March 8 on the Woodlands stage.

“This English group burst on the music scene in 2003 and has established itself with its exquisite singing and creation of a sound that spans the entire range of vocal color. Think King’s singers. Think Swingle Singers. Throw in a little Bobby McFarin and a little California sunshine and you have Voces8. They are a versatile group with an impressive stage presence, with imaginative theatricality and with a well- balanced program,” a news release said.

This year, HSVCF issued a challenge to established endowments to match their own fundraising up to $ 1,000. The proceeds will be given to the Animal Welfare League, the Boys & Girls Club, the Veterans Memorial and Glenhaven Youth Ranch.

In the past eight years, the HSVCF has raised in excess of $ 80,000 for the purpose of starting new endowments or adding to established ones. Any remaining funds will be added to the general fund of the HSVCF as a way of increasing its ability to increase grants to HSV and surrounding area agencies.

For the third year, the foundation is offering a pre- concert dinner in the Ouachita Building, beginning at 6 p. m., for $ 15.

“This is a unique opportunity to enjoy a meal, enjoy the music of a world class octet, while helping support four local charities,” the release said.

Reserved seating for the concert is $ 25. Reservations may be made at http:// www. hsvpoa. org. Call Carolyn Bowers at 9158022 for more information.
