UAM graduates area students

MONTICELLO — The University of Arkansas at Monticello awarded 544 degrees and certificat­es to 501 students in December, according to informatio­n released by the Office of the Registrar.

Hot Springs students among SAU fall graduates

MAGNOLIA — Southern Arkansas University graduated 122 undergradu­ates and 35 graduate students on Dec. 13, 2013.

Local residents graduate from Harding

SEARCY — Three local residents were among the nearly 400 graduates who received a diploma at Harding University’s commenceme­nt exercises on Dec. 14.

Tabetha Espenschie­d, of Pearcy, received a Bachelor of Arts in general studies.

Brenton Jones, of Hot Springs, received a Bachelor of Business Administra­tion in health care management.

Hannah Sutton, of Malvern, received a Master of Science in physician assistant studies.

University President Bruce D. McLarty presented the diplomas

to the graduates.

Area students graduate from NSU

TAHLEQUAH, Okla. — Nicholas Bennett, of Hot Springs, and Melinda Sanders, of Malvern, graduated from Northeaste­rn State University in the fall of 2013.

Bennett earned a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communicat­ion-Journalism/ Broadcast.

Sanders earned a Master of Science in Nursing- Nursing Education.

Duke named to LMU dean’s list

LOS ANGELES, Calif. — Thomas Duke, of Glenwood, earned a spot on the Loyola Marymount University dean’s list for the fall 2013 semester.

Students named to the dean’s list have completed 15 semester hours at LMU and earned a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or better.

Additional­ly, a student must have completed all of his or her courses and never received an F in any course.

Fletcher earns degree at Southern Mississipp­i

HATTIESBUR­G, Miss. — Allison Fletcher, of Hot Springs, graduated from the University of Southern Mississipp­i on Dec. 13.

Fletcher earned a Bachelor of Science in Marine Biology. She studied last summer at the USM Gulf Coast Research Laboratory in Ocean Springs, Miss.

Fletcher is a 2010 Lake Hamilton honor graduate. She is the daughter of Rudy and Verna Fletcher.

Kalisz named to Drake dean’s list

DES MOINES, Iowa — Sean- Patrick Kalisz, of Hot Springs Village, was named to the Drake University dean’s list for the fall 2013 semester.

Students must achieve a

grade- point average of 3.5 or above to earn this honor.

Kellar named to Oklahoma Baptist honor roll

SHAWNEE — Hot Springs native Lydia Kellar, a sophomore music and nursing double major, was recently named to Oklahoma Baptist University’s President’s Honor Roll for the fall 2013 semester. Students who achieved a semester grade point average of 3.7 or higher on a 4.0 scale are named to the president’s honor roll.
