City street closed for sewer project

Ridgeway Street, from Malvern Avenue to Apache Street, will be closed to through traffic from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. Monday, weather permitting, to install new wastewater service.

Signs will be posted, and motorists should seek an alternate route.

Applicatio­ns open for block grants

City officials will accept applicatio­ns until Nov. 28 for an estimated $430,000 in 2015 Community Developmen­t Block Grant funds.

Applicatio­ns for eligible neighborho­od revitaliza­tion, new affordable housing, and infrastruc­ture to support economic developmen­t projects will be accepted.

Questions can be answered at a Community Developmen­t Advisory Committee meeting at 1 p.m. Thursday in City Hall, 133 Convention Blvd. Applicatio­ns will be available at the meeting, online at http://www.cityhs.net or at the Planning and Developmen­t office in City Hall weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Blood drives set throughout area

Arkansas Blood Institute will hold blood drives at the following locations and times:

• Monday — 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Mountain Pine High School.

• Tuesday — 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Hot Springs High School gymnasium.

• Wednesday — 8:30-11:30 a.m., bloodmobil­e at Garland County Court House parking lot, and 1:30-3:45 p.m., bloodmobil­e at City Hall.

• Thursday — 8:30-11:30 a.m., Arvest Bank, 4570 Central Ave., and 1:30-4:30 p.m., bloodmobil­e at Xerox, 3315 Central Ave.

• Friday — 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Gardner Magnet School, science room.

• Nov. 9— 8:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m., Piney Grove United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall, 2963 Airport Road.

Donors who are 16 years of age must weigh at least 125 and provide signed parental permission. Donors who are 17 must weigh at least 125 pounds, and donors 18 years or older must weigh at least 110 pounds.
