Parkview surges past Wolves, 41-20

- FROM STAFF REPORTS

LITTLE ROCK — Little Rock Parkview followed Lake Hamilton’s good start with three dominant quarters.

After the Wolves struck for two first-quarter touchdowns, Parkview scored 27 answered points for a stunning 41-20 win Friday night at Quigley-Cox Stadium.

Quarterback Koilan Jackson led the Patriots’ charge, running for three scores and passing for another. The son of former Parkview, Oklahoma and NFL (Philadelphia Eagles/Green Bay Packers) tight end Keith Jackson ran six yards for a third-quarter touchdown that broke a 14-all tie. His two one-yard sneaks gave Parkview 27-14 and 34-20 leads in the fourth quarter.

Jason Green capped the victory with his second TD run of the game, a 30-yarder with 1:25 to play.

The loss was Lake Hamilton’s second in a row and third in four games. It dropped the Wolves into a tie with Parkview and El Dorado for third place in 6A-South, each 3-3.

Lake Hamilton, having defeated El Dorado, can earn a No. 3 playoff seed with a win over Little Rock Hall at Bank of the Ozarks Field and a Parkview loss at El Dorado.

But, said coach Jerry Clay, “We’ve got to pull it together.”

The Wolves scored on their first possession, quarterback Jess Ledbetter running the last three yards. Defensive back Dallas Baldwin returned an

interception 26 yards less than two minutes later, Ethan Johnson’s second extra point making it 14-0 after 7:09 of clock time.

The Patriots answered with Green’s 2-yard touchdown early in the second, pulling even on Jackson’s 25-yard pass to Kolby McNeal and Ronald Gomez’s PAT 45 seconds before halftime.

Lake Hamilton was held scoreless for more than two quarters before Ledbetter’s 1-yard sneak with 8:32 to play, coming three minutes after Jackson’s second rushing TD

Clay compared the fourth quarter to last week, when Benton scored four touchdowns in a 31-0 win.

“At the end we had big letdowns on their last two drives. … Our defense has played pretty well all year up until the last two drives last week and the last two (Friday),” he said. “We get tired … I don’t know. We’ve got to play a whole game.”

Ledbetter went 7 for 18 passing for 112 yards and two interceptions, the first after the Wolves crossed midfield on the first half’s last possession.

“We missed some wide-open receivers, (and) had some drops at crucial times,” Clay said.

Jonathan Buss led Lake Hamilton in rushing with 40 yards six carries. Donell West had 35 on nine.

“We had sparks of offense. We missed some key opportunities,” Clay said.

The Wolves played without guard Josh Graves, tight end Nathan Dutton and and linebacker Quentavious Haywood, all injured.
