Frazier leads Tigers past Riders
ARKADELPHIA — Kiehl Frazier hurt Southern Arkansas through the air early and on the ground late, keeping Ouachita Baptist undefeated.
The senior quarterback accounted for four touchdowns, two each running and passing, as the Tigers rallied past Southern Arkansas 38-28 Saturday at Cliff Harris Stadium. OBU is 8-0 overall and in the Great American Conference with road games Saturday against Arkansas-Monticello and Nov. 15 against crosstown rival Henderson State.
Frazier scored on runs of nine and five yards in the first 5:22 of the fourth quarter, putting the Tigers up 31-21 after the visiting Muleriders rode Si Blackshire’s passing to a 21-17 halftime lead. Etauj Allen’s 50-yard punt return gave OBU a 38-21 cushion with 7:53 left before Blackshire’s fourth touchdown pass of the game less than a minute later.
Frazier completed 12 of 23 for 240 yards with no interceptions, connecting with Spencer Knight for 47 yards and Brandon Marks for 24 yards on first-half touchdown passes.
Blackshire’s third touchdown pass, with 4:02 on the clock, gave SAU (4-4, 4-4) a 21-14 lead before OBU’s Matthew Ehasz’ 26-yard field goal at 1:13 set the halftime margin.
Frazier scored his first touchdown on an 82-yard, 12-play drive that took 5:27, then drove the Tigers 58 yards in six plays for another score.
Blackshire completed 22 of 40 for 415 yards with one interception but was sacked three times.
OBU, the state’s only unbeaten college team, is 5-0 at new Cliff Harris Stadium.
Harding 51, SE Oklahoma 6
SEARCY — Harding ran for 467 yards and treated a homecoming crowd to a 51-6 rout of Southeastern Oklahoma State at First Security Stadium.
Seven different Bisons scored touchdowns, Darious Lane returning a punt 82 yards for a second-quarter score that made it 27-0. It reached 48-6 on second-half touchdowns by Alapeti Magalei, Romo Westbrook and Matthew Tenison. Ahmad Scott, Zach Shelley and Jason Oller ran for first-half scores. John Gay kicked six extra points and a 40-yard field goal.
Westbrook, a senior from Marion, carried 14 times for 121 yards. Magalei, a senior from Tacoma, Wash., had 111 yards behind eight carries. Keenan Kellett passed three times, completing one for 13 yards.
The Bisons, 7-1 overall and in the Great American Conference, came off a 28-24 road upset of two-time defending league champion Henderson State. Harding travels to East Central (Ada, Okla.) this week before the Nov. 15 regular-season finale against visiting Arkansas Tech.
