PEARCY — Randall Nichols broke Lake Hamilton’s single-season rushing record, running for 173 yards and two touchdowns in the junior Wolves’ 22- 3 win over Little Rock Catholic Thursday night at Bank of the Ozarks Field.

Nichols pushed his season total to 1,245 yards, passing David Church’s record of 1,227 in 2005. Lake Hamilton (6-3, 5-3 in the Central Arkansas Conference) closes Tuesday at Russellvil­le.

Church, a senior running back on the Wolves’ 2008 Class 6A championsh­ip team, is an assistant for junior head coach Brian Hopkins.

Carrying 24 times against Catholic, Nichols scored on a 15-yard run in the first quarter and from 10 yards out in the fourth. Lake Hamilton added quarterbac­k Utah Aitken’s 1-yard sneak and Nichols’ conversion run for a 14-0 third-quarter lead. Aitken ran for two points after Nichols’ second touchdown.

The Wolves held Catholic to a fourth-quarter field goal and 21 yards, 19 passing, and one first down. William Burgess and Zach Tisdale each had five tackles and Aitken four, Burgess and Aitken each with three for losses.

Lake Hamilton’s Degen Stacks had 36 yards on four carries.

ROSBORO — Jessievill­e had two quarterbac­ks fall to injury, and Centerpoin­t took advantage in rallying for a 22-8 victory Thursday night at Knight Stadium.

The Knights knocked out Jessievill­e starting quarterbac­k Montana Carden in the first half, but Sawyer Lamb, the Lions’ top receiver, threw a 9-yard touchdown pass to Justin Herron with 16 seconds left in the first half. Dylan Wright added the two-point run, and the Lions (5-4, 3-4) led 8-0 at halftime.

Jessievill­e had a 62- yard run by Wright called back for a holding penalty early in the third quarter. With 1:02 left in the period, Owen Bright threw a 12-yard touchdown pass to Kolten Carver and tied it with a two-point run.

With 3:50 left in the game, Eric Valdez gave Centerpoin­t its first lead on a 2-yard run, the conversion failing for a 14-8 advantage. Lamb later was injured after fumbling, and Bright sealed it with a 20-yard touchdown pass to cousin Michael Bright; Owen Bright made the two-point conversion.

Owen Bright completed seven of 11 passes for 86 yards, Hunter Alt and Lamb with

5B Jessievill­e intercepti­ons. Blake Crawford ( 11 carries for 54 yards) and Valdez (six for 52) accounted for Centerpoin­t’s 106 rushing yards.

The Lions had 114 yards on the ground but only 17 passing after Carden went down. Wright led with a game-high 76 yards on 15 carries.

Hot Springs-De Queen

DE QUEEN — After visiting Hot Springs took a third-quarter lead, De Queen scored the last two touchdowns for a 28-20 win Thursday night.

Taqueze Gordon’s 64-yard run put the Trojans ( 5- 4, 3-3 conference) ahead 20-14 with 5: 30 left in the third period. De Queen, tied for the conference lead at 4-1 (vs. Hope next week), pulled even later in the third and scored the winning touchdown in the fourth.

After Gordon’s 16-yard TD run in the second quarter, quarterbac­k Chris Stewart broke a 33-yard run with 1:16 before halftime for a 14-all tie.

Stewart ran for 116 yards on 15 carries and a two-point conversion before leaving the game

with an ankle injury late in the third quarter. Gordon had 92 yards on nine rushes, Kenny Byrd adding 51 on six.

Cross country: Trinity Christian Invitation­al

TEXARKANA — Freshman Emily Milbourn’s first- place individual performanc­e paced Lakeside’s senior girls to the team title of the Trinity Christian Invitation­al Saturday.

Milbourn ran a personal-best 20:04. Teammates Danielle Washington and Abby Dilick also medaled, placing seventh and 14th, respective­ly.

Jessievill­e ninth- grader Noah Eskew won the junior boys’ division. Lakeside’s junior boys were third, led by Gideon Drake’s sixth-place finish and John David Provins’ seventh. Nathan Reynolds was 12th and Brandon Otwell 15th.

The junior Lady Rams were fourth, Mikala Davis finishing second individual­ly. Teammate Madalyn Boyd was 15th.
