Hot Springs city residents can now drop off sorted office paper and N0. 1 and 2 plastics at the Recycling Drop- Off Center at the corner of Runyon and Valley streets. During this pilot program, most paper products, including sorted white and colored office paper, phone books, magazines and junk mail, will be accepted for recycling. Newspapers should not be included with sorted office paper products. No. 1 and 2 plastic products are being accepted during a test period that is expected to last through at least the end of 2015.

Last week, Earth Angels of Hot Springs recycled: 117 pounds, aluminum cans; 4,418 pounds, newspaper; 276 pounds, corrugated cardboard; 15,580 pounds, yard waste; 300 pounds, scrap metal; 23 pounds, phone books. A total of 10.36 tons of recyclable materials were kept out of the landfill.
