Magic Springs plans monster food drive

-

Magic Springs and Crystal Falls and Project Hope Food Bank of Hot Springs have partnered to collect food for a “Monster Food Drive” on weekends beginning Saturday through Nov. 1 during the annual “Magic Screams” Halloween event at the park.

Attendees are asked to bring one or more nonperishable food item as they enter the park; those who bring at least one item will receive a $ 5 discount off general admission. The discount cannot be used in conjunction with other offers, but all visitors are welcome to bring items to add to the collection pantry, which will be located at the front gate.

“We are excited to again be partnering with Project Hope,” Steve Honeycutt, Magic Springs general manager, said in a news release.

“They distributed over 670,000 pounds of food in 2014 to over 45 agencies and we want to help them keep their warehouse stocked. We hope everyone who attends will bring something to help a great local organization. This is really all about families helping families, ” he said.

Project Hope Food Bank Community Awareness Coordinator Becky Chote said that the rate of food insecurity in Garland County and the surrounding area is growing. “We are excited that Magic Springs has chosen to partner with us during this season. We hope those who are more fortunate will help us feed those in our community who need help,” Chote said.

The food bank has served the area since 2009.

Additional food drop- off locations are located at the Garland County Library, 1427 Malvern Ave., and Mattress Overstock, 1446 Higdon Ferry Road. Visit http:// www. magicsprings. com or call 624- 0100 for ticket information.
