Rita Bates Carpenter Ramsey, 81, of Hot Springs, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Nov. 17, 2015.

She was born on Dec. 4, 1933, in Silver, the daughter of John Ward Bates and Pansey Earl Darby Bates.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Floyd J. Carpenter; her second husband, Jim Ramsey; her parents; one brother, Kenneth Bates; one sister, Elaine Keeton; and one niece, Kara Parker.

She was a charter member of Hot Springs Baptist Church. Rita was a proud graduate of the Magnet Cove High School Class of 1951 and was owner and president of Greenley Foods Inc.

Rita’s passions in life included studying and presenting God’s word and traveling multiple times to the Holy Land. She also loved spending time on Lake Hamilton and spending time with her grandchild­ren and great-grandchild­ren.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Stephen and Kay Carpenter, of Hot Springs; her daughter and sonin-law, Cindy and Tim Garner, of Hot Springs; four grandchild­ren, Lacey Monroe, Leigh Carpenter, Kristin Webber, Cody Garner; four great-grandchild­ren, Ramsey Monroe, Christian Carpenter-Mello, Raith Monroe and Sierra Webber; one brother and sister-in-law, David and Ruth Bates, of Fayettevil­le; one sister and brother-in-law, Judy and Alfred Parker, of Alexander; numerous nieces, nephews and a host of wonderful friends.

Service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, in the Davis-Smith Funeral Home Chapel, Hot Springs, with Brother Gerald Taylor officiatin­g.

Interment will be in the Crestview Memorial Park.

Visitation will be held from 12:30-1:30 p.m. Saturday afternoon.

Pallbearer­s will be Earl Keeton, Rusty Parker, David Edwards, Steve Graham, Jason Monroe, Cody Garner and Drake Welch.

Honorary pallbearer­s will be Sam Mullins, Steve Davidson, Craig and Dee Price, Mike Karber, Linda Cope, past members of Rita Ramsey’s Sunday school class, Dianna Powell, Shelly Wright of Hospice Home Care and her loving care givers Vanessa Huell and Latasha Moore.
