Notre Dame women win in S.D.

BROOKINGS, S.D. — Briana Turner scored 20 points, Madison Cable added 16 and No. 3 Notre Dame held off pesky South Dakota State 75-64 on Saturday.

The Irish (3-0) stopped the Jackrabbit­s’ 12-game home winning streak at Frost Arena.

South Dakota State (2-1) closed within eight points with just over 3 minutes left on a three-pointer by Kerri Young. She missed her next shot and the Irish stayed in control.

Macy Miller led the Jackrabbit­s with 23 points and Young had 14.

No. 10 Mississipp­i St. 107 Grambling 43

STARKVILLE, Miss. (AP) — Victoria Vivians scored 21 of her 22 points in the second half and freshman Teaira McCowan had 21 points and 11 rebounds for Mississipp­i State.

McCowan had 15 points, eight rebounds and two blocks in the first half, and Mississipp­i State (2-0) led 50-26 at the break. Darae Taylor led Grambling (1-3) with 10 points.

No. 11 Texas 70, Rice 47

HOUSTON — Brianna Taylor scored 19 points and Texas routed Rice.

Texas (3-0) outscored the Owls 14-2 in the third quarter.

Taylor was 8 of 11 from the field and had eight rebounds. Brooke McCarty scored 11 points, and Lashann Higgs added 10 for the Longhorns. Shani Rainey scored 20 points for the Owls (0-3).

No. 12 Texas A&M 82, TCU 78

COLLEGE STATION, Texas— Courtney Walker scored 23 points and Jordan Jones and Courtney Williams added 17 points apiece for Texas A&M.

Jones also had nine assists for the Aggies (4-0). AJ Alix hadc a career-high 24 points for TCU (3-1).

No. 15 Stanford 84 No. 22 G. Washington 63

STANFORD, Calif. — Lili Thompson scored 21 points, and Erica McCall had 18 points and 10 rebounds to help Stanford beat George Washington.

Karlie Samuelson hit four three-pointers and finished with 17 points for Stanford (3-0). Jonquel Jones led George Washington (2-1) with 27 points and 17 rebounds.

She made three-pointers.

Western Kentucky 71 No. 16 Louisville 69

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — Kayla Smith made the go-ahead basket with 34 seconds left, and Kendall Noble sealed Western Kentucky’s victory with two free throws.

Noble finished with 22 points, hitting all eight of her free throws, and Tashia Brown added 16 points for Western Kentucky (1-1). Briahanna Jackson had 24 points for Louisville (0-2).

N0. 18 Arizona St. 64, SMU 57

DALLAS — Quinn Dornstaude­r scored 21 points for Arizona State.

Dornstaude­r was 7 of 14 from the field and made all six of her free throws for the Sun Devils (1-1). McKenzie Adams scored 16 points to lead the Mustangs (1-2).

EAST LANSING, Mich. — Tori Jankoska scored 18 points, and Jasmine Hines added 16 for Michigan State (3-0).

Anna Policicchi­o led Idaho State (1-2) with 17 points.
