What one experience in your life really defined you?

I’m not sure there’s only one experience that has defined who I am, but when I left Arkansas in 2005, I went to Syracuse with nothing. A small-town kid in upstate New York, I struggled early to adapt to the completely foreign environment. Luckily, I have a knack for making friends (and they loved a Southern accent) so I was able to lean on them to get through those first few months. I learned and grew more in those few months trying to overcome that culture shock than ever before.
