Rams hold off White Hall on road; Trojans split against Watson Chapel

WHITE HALL — Lakeside led by 18 midway through the third quarter before holding off White Hall 47-43 Tuesday night at Bert Honey Gymnasium.

Shawn Smith scored 15 points and Andrew Spakes eight for the Rams (4-11, 2-2), getting seven each from Adrien Wilson, Kelen Bland and Tanner Rice. Wilson hit two free throws with two seconds left to seal the victory.

Lakeside hosts Magnolia on Friday.

* In other 5A-South action, Hot Springs’ senior boys won 72-58 at Watson Chapel while the Lady Trojans fell 38-36. The Trojans are 14-3 overall, 4-0 in 5A-Southwest, while the Lady Trojans dropped to 14-2 and 2-2 after Watson Chapel gained revenge for a finals loss in last month’s Kameron Hale Invitation­al at Lake Hamilton. Hot Springs is home against De Queen Friday night.

LITTLE ROCK — First-place Little Rock Parkview outscored Lake Hamilton by at least seven in each quarter and defeated the Lady Wolves 60-28 Tuesday night at Ripley Arena.

Ashdown-Fountain Lake

— Fountain Lake, unable to overcome a sluggish start, wrapped the first half of Class 4A-7 play with a 48-30 loss to Ashdown Tuesday night at Bass Gymnasium.

The Panthers, moving their conference record to 3-4, led 18-4 after the opening quarter and 28-7 at halftime. Fountain Lake (7-13, 1-6) could never pull within single digits.

Tate McKellar led the Cobras with 12 points. Jaden Hill paced Ashdown with 13 points, Austin Cross adding 12 points and Malik Winfrey 10.

Fountain Lake’s junior Lady Cobras won 27-23 behind 17 points from Lilliana Fehrenbach­er. Jordan Mungle scored nine points in Fountain Lake junior boys’ 40-21 defeat.

Both Fountain Lake junior teams play at Jessievill­e today.
