Lake Hamilton School District celebrates with carpool karaoke
PEARCY — The Lake Hamilton School District’s new Internet video based on a wellknown segment from a television talk show has drawn statewide attention.
The district’s “Carpool Karaoke” video is based on popular segments from the “Late Late Show with James Corden” on CBS.
“Renae Carrouth and Laura Young came up with the idea to create a carpool karaoke video for our end-of-year district meeting,” said Brian Bridges, communications coordinator. “I wanted to have something that would lighten the mood and get everyone laughing as we began our final meeting of the year.”
Bridges contacted employees throughout the district to take part. He served as the driver for each carpool.
One group consisted of coaches Blake Condley, Scotty Pennington and Jeremy Reed. Another included male retirees Jerry Clay, Steve Turner and John Welch.
Female retirees who participated were Pam Bell, Nancy Harter and Kathy Mahaffey. Administrators and district personnel to participate were Superintendent Steve Anderson, Kevin Catlett and Judy Mattingly.
“We picked songs for each group that we thought would fit the personalities of those in the car,” Bridges said.
“I knew that we had to end the video with the school jingle,” said Chris Counts, high schoolteacher. “Our jingle is very catchy. Once you hear it, you will be singing it for the next few hours.”
The video was shown Tuesday at the end-of-year district meeting and service awards recognition. It was then posted to the district’s social media page.
Since posted Tuesday evening, the video has been shared more than 1,000 times and viewed more than 43,000 times. At least two television news stations have shared the videos.
“Lake Hamilton really is such an amazing school, I am excited that thousands of people are getting to see our fun side,” Bridges said. “This was the perfect video to end the school year.”
