Pam Mullenix, an Oaklawn team member for more than 15 years, has been promoted to facilities operations manager, a newly created position necessitated by the continuous growth and complexity of the Oaklawn operation. Working closely with Plant Superintendent John Hopkins and Director of Operations Jason Milligan, Mullenix will now provide lead direction to maintenance, technical maintenance, racing and gaming housekeeping and racing and gaming security.

“Over the last few years, no one has been more willing to jump in and help with a magnitude of different projects than Pam,” Hopkins said in the press release. “She assists with a number of committees inside and outside of Oaklawn, but is still spot on when it comes to keeping the operations team on task. Her work ethic has not only impressed everyone in this department, but throughout the entire company.”

The Operations Department is among the largest in company with 350 full-time and seasonal employees. It oversees the 500,000-square-foot facility and is responsible for the entire 200 acres it sits on, including the barn area and racetrack.

Mullenix, a native of Hot Springs and graduate of Lake Hamilton High School, came to Oaklawn in 2001 from the Care Network, where she was responsible for scheduling more than 100 nurses for their shifts and payroll. Since joining this company, she has held several positions including gift shop manager and group sales manager. She was most recently maintenance coordinator. She has one son, Adrian Hale.
