Local dentist selected for John ‘Jack’ Logan Humanitarian Award

-

LITTLE ROCK — Dr. Danny Haynes, of Hot Springs, was the recipient of the prestigious John “Jack” Logan Humanitarian Award during the Arkansas State Dental Association’s 130th Annual Scientific Session held recently in Little Rock. The award is presented annually to honor a dentist who places the welfare and care of others above his or her own needs.

Haynes has practiced general dentistry in Hot Springs for more than 30 years, and has traveled on international mission trips many times since the early 1990s as a volunteer dentist. He is known locally as a dentist who is always there for the community, by serving as the dentist for the Horseman’s Benevolent Protective Association for more than 10 years, the dentist for the Recovery Point Ministry for Women and Gethsemane House for Men, and as a volunteer with Garland County Habitat for Humanity. When the Hot Springs area Cooperative Christian Ministries and Clinic was being renovated, he served on the board and was instrumental in rebuilding the dental clinic and gathering a group of dentists, hygienists and assistant volunteers who work all year taking turns serving the needy.

The namesake of the award, Dr. Jack Logan of Conway, was an example of selfless service until his untimely death during a mission trip to Nicaragua.

The award was presented to Haynes by Dr. Kristi Gipe Golden, of Hot Springs, who nominated him for the award.
