Ernestine Alexander

A celebratio­n of life for Ernestine Alexander, 92, of Hot Springs, who died April 12, 2017, will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at First Christian Church with Pastor Don Naftz officiatin­g.

Beulah N. Bradbury

DONALDSON — Beulah Nell Bradbury, 78, of Donaldson, passed away on April 14, 2017.

She was born in Blackwell, Okla., the first child of Winnie and Charles Belew. Beulah and her two sisters and two brothers were raised in Peck, Kan. While working in Wichita, she met and soon married Bill Bradbury, a sailor in the United States Navy. The couple soon moved to San Diego, where Bill would be stationed.

After moving to San Diego, she gave birth to one son, William Bradbury. After living on both the West and East Coast, the three moved to Arkansas, where Bill was born and raised. They eventually settled in the Social Hill area. Beulah remained a stay at home mom till her son was 14. She then took a job driving a school bus for the Malvern Public Schools. She was loved by the kids on the bus where she was known to dress as a clown while driving her route and bringing an ice chest of cold drinks for her passengers. After a few years back in the work force, she decided to go to nursing school and would eventually retire from Saline Memorial Hospital in Benton.

Beulah loved to have fun and would try about anything, including forging a river on horseback and white water rafting. She was a great cook and an artful cake decorator, providing wedding cakes for several of her family members. Beulah’s greatest pleasure was spending time with her two grandsons, Kyle and Drew Bradbury.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Winnie and Charles Belew.

Beulah is survived by her husband of 57 years, Bill Bradbury; son, William and daughter-in-law, Nancy; grandsons, Kyle and wife, Sarah, Drew and wife, Kayla; sisters, Charlene McCannon, Darlene and husband, Don Hancock; brothers, Charles and wife, Jeanie Belew, Bob and wife, Rosie Belew; sister-in-law, Ruby, sister-in-law, Linda and husband, Dale, sisters-in-law, Bonnie Hunnicutt and Becky Carter; numerous nieces, nephews and great-nephews, who will remember her as the fun-loving aunt, who made great cakes and always sent them a birthday card, as well as a special friend, Alene Glosson.

Chapel services by Ashby Funeral Home will be 10 a.m. on Wednesday with C.E. Holmes officiatin­g. Burial will follow at Pine Crest Cemetery.

Thelma Casey

MOUNT IDA — Thelma Casey, age 84, of Mount Ida, died Sunday, April 16, 2017.

She was the daughter of the late Jody and Getrude Brown. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gene Casey, on Aug. 31, 2002.

Thelma was a loving, giving person and a great mother to her nieces. She fed the birds, squirrels and occasional raccoon family all year long.

She is survived by her nieces and their spouses, Sarah (Charlie) Jimerson, of Alma, Dean (John) Zmuda, of Hot Springs, Jo Childress and Nina Rucker, both of Mount Ida; and many other nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Joplin Cemetery under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Glenwood.

LITTLE ROCK — Suzanne Sawyer Mayhan, 47, of Little Rock, died April 13, 2017, with her husband, James Mayhan.

Brooks P. Meek

In loving remembranc­e of Brooks Powell Meek, whose spirit transcende­d this world into eternity on April 15, 2017.

Brooks was born on Nov. 16,

1995, in Monroe, La., to Angie Cutler and David Meek.

He is preceded in death by grandfathe­rs, Dr. Otis Cutler, Dr. Gary Meek, Jim Gustison; and his uncle, Otis Cutler II.

He is survived by his parents; stepmother, Jeanne Meek; sister, Ellen Margaret Meek; grandmothe­rs, Peggy Gustison and Julia Meek. He is also survived by uncles, Milton Cutler (Gina), Chris Cutler (Kelly), and Gregory Meek. In addition to his uncles, he is survived by cousins, Alex Cutler, Robert Cutler, Adam Meek. Brooks is also survived by his very special loving friend, Claudia Pelchat Stone. As well as a host of extended family and friends.

Brooks began his musical career with a toy guitar at the age of 5. By second grade, he was playing cello at Benton County School of the Arts. He continued with the cello, and at the age of

12, started formal guitar lessons with Jason Truby. Brooks also played trumpet for the marching band at LRCA. As a young adult, this past year, he joined the band Centari. He had become a singer/ songwriter and his music will continue on with the band.

As a Scout, Brooks was ignited by his love of the outdoors. He achieved one of the highest honors of Scouts, the Arrow of Light. Brooks was also an avid martial artist and a wrestler, which all lead to a State Championsh­ip in wrestling for LRCA.

Brooks will be remembered for his love of Claudia, his music, kayaking, backpackin­g, fishing and all things to do with nature.

A celebratio­n of his life will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, April

23, followed by a reception, all at Ruebel Funeral Home, 6313 W. Markham St., Little Rock, Ark.

Sarah Oden

POYEN — Sarah Oden, 82, of Poyen, died April 14, 2017.

Born March 16, 1935, in Poyen, Ark., the daughter of Jewell and Lona (Phillips) Archer. She was married to the late Duward “Dewey” Oden on Nov. 7, 1952. She was a LPTN at Benton Services Center and a retired WalMart sales associate.

Survivors are sons, R.L. (Sheri) Oden and Lynn (Cindy) Oden; grandchild­ren, David, Danny, Madison and Cole Oden, Jake Sharp, Jessica Mathis.

Martha A. Thomason

BONNERDALE — Martha Ann Thomason, 83, of Bonnerdale, passed peacefully on April

15, 2017.

She was born on April 11,

1934, to the late Russel and Josie McGehee.

Martha loved to crochet, garden and more than anything else, she loved being a mother and granny.

Meeting her in heaven is her husband of more than 40 beautiful years, James Thomason; and siblings, Beverly Ball, Betty Harris, Ronald McGehee, Bobby McGehee and Judy Wilson.

Left to cherish her memory are her son, Jeff Thomason (Lori); grandson, Eric Thomason (Olivia); great-grandchild­ren, Serenity, Landon, Porter; brother, Raymond McGehee; and several nieces, nephews and extended family members.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Montgomery County Nursing Home for all of their love, care and support.

Michael P. Welsh

HOT SPRINGS VILLAGE — Michael Patrick Welsh, 74, of Hot Springs Village, passed away April 15, 2017.

He was born to the late Roscoe Welsh and Mildred (Eli) Welsh in New Albany, Ind., on June 24, 1942.

Michael graduated from Providence High School Class of 1960 and attended the Indiana University. He was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force. Michael was also an active member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus and Men’s Club. He loved playing golf, hunting and fly fishing, as well as shooting skeet and trap. He traveled worldwide and always enjoyed a good cruise. Michael was always positive and upbeat, with a great sense of humor with numerous friends to share his life.

He is preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Gladys Welsh; sons, Brian Welsh of Indiana, Robert Welsh of Illinois; two stepsons, Michael Morgan (Deborah) and Kevin Morgan (Traci), all of Kentucky; brother, Patrick Welsh, of Kentucky; and three grandchild­ren and five stepgrandc­hildren.

A memorial Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 19, 2017, at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Hot Springs Village, Ark., with Father Bill Elser officiatin­g.
