Hot Springs Flute Ensemble announces April concerts
The Hot Springs Flute Ensemble, conducted by Sigilda Naidin, will present a free concert at 3 p.m. Sunday at Hope Church, 836 Shady Grove Road.
A freewill offering will be taken for the group’s scholarship fund.
The concert theme is “Heavenly Sounds.” The music will include “Morning Has Broken,” “Bright and Glorious is the Sky,” “Temple of Heaven,” “Au Claire de Lune,” “The Evening Star,” “Stained Glass Images” and “The Prayer.” Numbers are specifically arranged for the flute choir, which will utilize a variety of flutes in the performance.
Conductor Naidin has a bachelors degree in Music Education and Choral Conducting from Bucharest University and is also the choir director at Faith Lutheran Church in Hot Springs Village. She was appointed the group’s conductor in 2013.
Members performing, including Julian Herring Scholarship students, are Lynn Clardy and Jackie Flowers on piccolos; C flutists Rebecca Irwin, Payton Teague, Harriet Reynolds, Janis Hopper, Priscilla Wacaster, Marcia Gilmore, Leoni Bermejo, Aishani Singh, Janet Moore, Adeline Mogovan, Steve Bonner, Kajal Bharany, Hal Thompson, Ann Weik, Debbie Reed, Marilyn Coffman, Sally Matthews and Robin Williams; alto flutists Sara Ferril, Kathy Skinner, Makayla Lovell and Ann Smedley; bass flutists Leah Venable, Beverly Hegwood, Rhonda Hall, Ronald Johnson and John Skinner; and contra bass flutists Sara-Marie Linneman and Kristin Grant.
The ensemble will present this same program in Hot Springs Village at 6:30 p.m. April 30 at the Coronado Baptist Church. Admission is free but a freewill offering will be taken.
