Man arrested for alleged rape
A local man was arrested Friday afternoon for the alleged rape of a 14-year-old girl last month.
Dennis James David, 19, of 119 Fallberry Way, was taken into custody at his residence shortly after 1:30 p.m. and charged with a felony count of rape, punishable by up to life in prison. He was still being held without bond Monday and is set to appear this week in Garland Count District Court.
According to the affidavit, on April 15, a report was filed with the Garland County Sheriff’s Department alleging a 14-year-old girl was raped at a location in western Garland County by a known suspect.
The victim was interviewed at the Cooper-Anthony Mercy Child Advocacy Center by forensic interviewer Brandi Cannon with the interview recorded and observed by Sheriff’s Investigator Jennifer Tonseth.
During the interview, the victim allegedly stated a white male known to her as Dennis Reed held her down and removed her pants while in a van. She said he then raped her as she screamed and told him no.
The affidavit notes the victim had visible redness to her upper arms, neck and knees and a sexual assault exam revealed injuries consistent with forced intercourse. Investigators processed the van and allegedly located evidence consistent with the victim’s statement.
Dennis Reed was identified as Dennis David by the victim and using social media accounts. Investigators contacted David about the allegations against him and he reportedly declined to be interviewed.
A warrant for his arrest was later issued.
