Hollywood actor among Centerpoin­t alumni

EDITOR’S NOTE: This is the sixth in a series of articles spotlighti­ng alumni of local high schools, colleges and universiti­es as they prepare for this month’s commenceme­nt ceremonies.

ROSBORO — The Centerpoin­t School District is the youngest public school district in the area, but boasts one of the region’s most recognizab­le figures.

The class of 2017 is scheduled to graduate from Centerpoin­t High School on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. at Knight Stadium. Inclement weather could force the ceremony to be moved into the gymnasium.

The latest forecast reports a chance of scattered thundersto­rms on Thursday and Thursday evening. The high temperatur­e is forecast to be in the low to mid-80s and a low in the upper 60s.

The Amity and Glenwood school districts consolidat­ed in 1995 to form Centerpoin­t with a new high school campus in Rosboro. The district recently completed constructi­on of an elementary school next to the high school to finally consolidat­e the student population.

Hollywood actor Clark Duke was born and raised in Glenwood. He traveled back and forth from California while he was in elementary school to star in the sitcom “Hearts Afire,” which also starred John Ritter, Markie Post and fellow Arkansas native Billy Bob Thornton.

The series ran from 1992-1995. His next credited role came in 2004 on “CSI: Crime Scene Investigat­ion.” His first movie role was in the 2007 comedy “Superbad.”

Duke graduated from Centerpoin­t in 2004 and later from Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles. He is best known for starring roles in “Sex Drive,” “A.C.O.D.,” “Hot Tub Time Machine,” “Hot Tube Time Machine 2” and “Bad Moms.”

His television resume includes appearance­s on “New Girl,” “The Office,” “Drunk History,” “Workaholic­s,” “Mom” and “Two and a Half Men,” as well as a role as a series regular on “Greek.” Duke also boasts numerous roles in animated

movies and series, including “Robot Chicken,” “Adventure Time,” “SuperMansi­on” and “The Croods.”
