Village Players plan July dinner theater

-

HOT SPRINGS VILLAGE — The Hot Springs Village Players recently held auditions for the upcoming dinner theater presentation of “In 25 Words or Death,” taking place at the Coronado Community Center in July.

Written by Newt Mitzman and William Dazell, the play will be co-directed by Vikki Powell and Kat Clayton, with Dee Offerman serving as producer.

Readings have begun, and the cast is starting to bring their characters to life during rehearsals. Auditions revealed the amount of talent within the Village, and all are now hard at work memorizing lines.

Veteran actors Patsy Slezak, Herm Dobscha, Cheryl Robertson, Janis Bremer and Michael Dollar will be working with newcomers Jessica Dunn, Damon Schleuse, Scott Clayton, Gary Mettler and Donna Hinton.

This lively comedic mystery is set over the Thanksgiving holiday on the rocky New England coast. The audience will be encouraged to wear oceangoing outfits, like yachting, deep sea fishing, or sailing gear, or to bring something more simple, like a captain’s hat or umbrella.

Performances will be at 6 p.m. July 14-15, with a 2 p.m. matinee on July 16.

Tickets are $35, which includes the show and a Thanksgiving dinner provided by Home Plate Cafe. Because of catering needs, the deadline to reserve seating will be July 10.

To purchase online, go to http://www. hsvticketsales.com. Tickets will not be available at the door.
