Fresh produce returns Saturday at farmers market

-

Shoppers can browse a variety of fresh, homegrown produce and homemade items at the Hot Springs Farmers & Artisans Market, 121 Orange St., from 7 a.m. to noon Saturday.

Vendor of the Week Ginger Parks will offer a stunning variety of handmade, bohemian-style jewelry, including necklaces, bracelets and earrings made of leather with fresh water pearls, turquoise and sea glass.

Parks said in a news release that her style was inspired by “Texas cowgirls,” adding that her jewelry is so versatile, “it can be worn with everything from a bikini to an evening gown.” She also makes one of a kind pieces using items such as broken jewelry and old lockets and can repair and create jewelry on the spot.

Farmers of the Week Larry and Karen Thomas with the Thomas Family Farm offer a wide variety of heirloom tomatoes, ripe off the vine.

The couple have sold produce at the farmers market for 10 years and have a long-standing history of quality food. The Thomas Family Farm is located in Magnet Cove. Their tomato selection includes Cherokee Purple, Brandy Wine, and Yellow Jubilee. They also grow green and red okra, peppers, yellow and butternut squash, and figs.

Karen Thomas said that one of the things she really enjoys at the farmers market is the rapport she has with her customers and that she has many repeat customers that she considers friends.
