School bus driver suffers medical issue; kids safe
PEARCY — A bus driver for the Lake Hamilton School District suffered a medical emergency Wednesday afternoon while driving students home after the school day.
The district said the driver pulled off the road safely and called for medical assistance. First responders and Lake Hamilton transportation staff were immediately dispatched.
All of the students remaining on the bus were safely transported home on an alternate bus with an alternate driver as their original driver received medical care.
The district said it could not comment further as the situation falls under Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act and involves personnel.
Back-to-School Bash set for Wade Street Park
The 2017 Back-to-School Bash will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday at Wade Street Park.
The Sentinel-Record, based on incorrect information it received about the event, previously reported a start time of 10 a.m.
The event is sponsored by the Hot Springs Parks and Recreation Department, Hays Rental and Sales, Sam’s Club, Coca-Cola, Hot Springs School District, Webb Community Center and the Backto-School Bash Committee.

The event will include a dunking booth, food vendors and a rock climbing wall. Refreshments will include cotton candy, funnel cakes, hot dogs, popcorn and drinks.
Utility work to close various city roadways
The westbound lane of Golf Links Road at the Fontana Road intersection, and Fontana Road between Golf Links and Shady Grove roads, will be closed through Sept. 1 for gas line construction.
The area from the intersection of East Belding and Lincoln Street to Clay Street will be closed today for wastewater main repair.
The eastbound lane of Indian Hills Streets, between Terry Street and Gray Circle, will be closed today and Monday for gas line repair. Flagmen will be present.
Ridgeway Street, between Malvern Avenue and Guy Street, will be closed from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. today and Monday for a right-ofway project.
Signs will be posted, and motorists are advised to seek an alternate route during street closure.
