Cobras score key road win over Mena

MENA — Fountain Lake kept its Class 4A playoff hopes alive with a 35-14 win over Mena here Friday night.

Quarterbac­k Stephen Turner completed 11 of 19 passes for 173 yards and two touchdowns, Parion Johnson with four catches for 92 yards.

Andrew Roberson paced the Cobras with 174 rushing yards on 24 carries while Kyle Fornter added 43 yards on eight attempts, each scoring a touchdown.

Mena quarterbac­k Carson Cannon completed 11 of 24 passes for 70 yards, adding a team-high 100 rushing yards on 21 carries.

Junior linebacker­s Joe Murphy and Colson Simpson were Fountain Lake’s leading tacklers with 15 stops each while Ahman Johnson hauled in two intercepti­ons.

Murphy and Dillon Horton each recorded a sack for the Cobras.

Fountain Lake improved to 4-5 overall and 2-4 in conference. The Cobras are tied for the fifth and

final playoff spot with Bauxite and Malvern before closing the regular season Friday against Ashdown on Allen Tillery Field at Beckham Memorial Stadium.

Hot Springs-Fairview

CAMDEN — Camden Fairview made quick work of visiting Hot Springs Friday night.

The Cardinals outscored the Trojans 28-0 in the first half and cruised to a 35-0 romp at Cardinal Stadium. Avenging a 41-38 loss to Hot Springs last season, Fairview improved to 4-5 overall and 4-2 in conference with the win.

Eliminated from playoff contention, Hot Springs fell to 1-8 overall and 1-5 in conference. The Trojans host crosstown rival Lakeside to close the season Friday at Reese Memorial Stadium.
