Hot Springs Village
Gated community with a lot going on
HOT SPRINGS VILLAGE — The largest gated community in the United States, Hot Springs Village is 26,000 acres nestled in the Ouachita Mountains.
Officially opened in June
1970, the Village was created by the John A. Cooper Co. as a well-planned, self-contained community for retirees.
The infrastructure, a clubhouse and the first
18-hole championship golf course, were completed soon after, according to the history on the Property Owners Association website.
Residents and visitors to the Village can enjoy beautiful views and a wide variety of amenities. The community includes nine golf courses, 11 lakes, two full-service marinas, a 13-court tennis complex, 26 miles of nature trails, eight pickleball courts, pool, library, a dog park, RV part, restaurants and a fitness center.
There are more than 200 clubs and organizations. Residents can join one of many card clubs, arts clubs and religious organizations.
The Ponce de Leon Center is the hub of performing arts in the Village. It houses the Ouachita Building, Casa De Carta and Woodlands Auditorium. The auditorium is a 654-seat theater featuring state-of-the-art sound and lighting.
It plays host to musicals, concerts, drama and dance, and its lobby is used as an art gallery to highlight local artists. A schedule of upcoming events can be found at http:// www.hsvticketsales.com.
