HS/HSV Symphony Guild entertains, educates
HOT SPRINGS VILLAGE — The HS/HSV Symphony Guild, founded in 1985, is primarily a philanthropic organization with a major focus on music education for schools and students.
“Your Symphony Guild is committed to supporting and encouraging music education in our area. School-aged children greatly benefit from the annual Children’s Concert, which hosts approximately 3,000 students at the Bank of the Ozark’s Arena in Hot Springs,” said Suzanne Babbie, president. The concert was held Thursday.
The Guild invests over
$70,000 annually in music education programs, among those are:
• ArtsPartners, who conduct workshops in the schools.
• Orchestra & You, which introduces second- and third-graders to music.
• Scholarships for summer music camps.
• Mini-grants for music equipment in area schools.
• College scholarships for area high school graduates pursuing music-related degrees.
Each year, the Guild presents exciting concerts at the Woodlands Auditorium and other venues. On Dec. 3, the Guild will be offering the annual Arkansas Symphony Orchestra “Christmas in the Village.” The tickets are now on sale for this concert and can be purchased on the POA website, http://www.hsvpoa.org.
In 2018, the Guild has planned several crowd-pleasing programs:
• Henderson State President’s Award Winners in Concert on Jan. 27 at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church.
• “A Magical Evening” on Feb.
9, at the Coronado Center.
• “Piano Artistry of Scott Carroll” on Feb. 18 at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church.
• “The Best of Berlin, Tribute
to an American Legend” on March
20 at Christ of the Hills Methodist Church.
• ASO Youth Orchestra on April 8 at Woodlands Auditorium.
• The Arkansas Symphony Orchestra at Garvan Gardens on May 20 at Anthony Chapel.
“Become a Guild member and help us achieve our mission to promote and support music education. Annual membership is only $20 per person,” Babbie said. Additional Guild information and membership information are both available at http:// www.symphonyguild.org.
